Is A Futon Mattress A Favorable Buy?

without comments

At last it’s time for you to look for a new futon mattress. Perhaps your present mattress has been exhibiting signs of deterioration by way of developing bumps and lumps or the seams might be falling apart. Or too frequent a use of futon has made you realize that it’s not as comfortable any more as you expect it to be. Whatever be the reasons; selection of a proper futon mattress is very important. You can start looking for mattress comparisons right away. For, if you fail in doing so, even the new mattress may not come up to your expectations and you may not sleep as comfortably.

The first thing you need to consider is the size of the mattress. If it is too small you won’t have enough room for a good sleep; nor will it be comfortable for when it is used as a couch. You get a futon mattress in just three sizes. The three sizes are: twin, full or queen. A twin sized mattress is most suitable for children or teenagers because of their size. The minimum size that you need for a couple who uses futon as a bed is the full sized mattress. The largest and most roomy size is the queen, and this is the best mattress to sleep two people.

There is none denying the fact that it is the filling that governs the comfort level of a mattress. A cotton mattress is cheap but will quickly develop lumps and bumps. And, the only way you can delay the onset of bumps and lumps on such a mattress is by rotating it too frequently, perhaps as often as you use it. A foam mattress is the next level up and can be quite comfortable if you are willing to spend the money. Inner spring futon mattresses offer another choice for a bed mattress. They are the most expensive but also the most comfortable of all the futon types.

Another factor in the comfort level of a futon is the thickness of the mattress. If you are going to be using the futon as a spare bed, and not as a luxurious bed, then a 6 inch mattress is suitable. However, if the futon is going to be used regularly, perhaps as a bed full time, then you will need an 8 to 9 inch mattress. But, mind you, a thick mattress being heavier, may pose problems of maneuverability while you may want to shift the futon from a bed to a couch.
